since you've been gone I can do whatever I want

When you get into a blogging groove, you can hit it everyday. But when other activities start to occupy your brain power, blogging can tend to take a back seat. Here's what's been going on since I've blogged last:

-That Stirr event. Man this thing had some drama around it. Gee, was it something I said?;)

-We put a strategic partnership together with Jajah. Good guys, good stuff all around. Win for them, for us, and ultimately for those that want to make their phone a part of their social web. Some people tried to put their spin on it when quoted. Typical.

-Then we finally got our SMS capability shipped for the US (other countries to follow soon). This was a big deal. It took over a year to get everyone in the ecosystem on board. Huge props to Level 3, Syniverse, and our engineering team, now led by the great Jim Black. Not to mention, you can import all your contacts into Jangl now too. Bitchen. It's all here at an updated website.

-There have been some posts here, here, here, here and here about the not so popular voice apps in facebook. Let's be clear about what we all know:

a) VoIP cheap talking apps aren't going to move the needle in facebook
b) VoIP apps with utility will gain some traction, but not huge
c) VoIP apps that have activity associated with the utility have great potential
d) Asynchronous based apps trump all, clearly, but getting the UI simple is mandatory
e) This is all about iteration and fine tuning, we've only just begun. Can you spell SMS?

To that latter point, open social here we come, and fb we've got something new for you too.
